Dark mode done right
The trick to dark mode isn’t just inverting colors. Pure black (#000) on screens is harsh — it creates too much contrast and makes text harder to read. Use a very dark gray (#0a0a0a or #111) instead.
Same goes for text: pure white on dark backgrounds causes halation. Slightly muted white (#e5e5e5) is easier on the eyes.
The best dark modes feel like they were designed first, not bolted on.
